    Director & Entomologist SPAREC and Director & Entomologist AHSAREC

    The College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking two Directors to lead two Agricultural Research and Extension Centers (AREC): Alson H. Smith Jr AREC (AHSAREC), Winchester, VA, and Southern Piedmont AREC (SPAREC), Blackstone, VA.  Both are tenure-track positions at the Associate or Professor rank, with disciplinary expertise in entomology. The Director serves as administrative head of the AREC, providing leadership and support for regional, national and international excellence in current and future integrated research and Extension programs appropriate for the AREC’s vision and mission. The Director reports administratively to the Director of the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station. Qualifications include earned PhD in entomology or related discipline, demonstrated strong professional leadership, effective communication and management skills, strong commitment to applied research, Extension programming, and long-term sustainability of agriculture, demonstrated record of scholarly achievement.
