    Job Description Summary


    The Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University seeks dynamic and innovative applicants for the position of Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist – Cotton. This position will be a twelve-month, tenure-track position with 75% extension and 25% research appointment. The projected start date is November 01, 2024.

     

    Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and maintain an impactful research and extension program focused on promoting the profitable and environmentally sustainable production of cotton. This research and extension program has a long history of providing solutions for Alabama growers, suppliers of agricultural inputs, and end-users of cotton. 

     

    The person in this position should provide leadership in cotton agronomy programming, supported by faculty and extension agents from Auburn University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Responsibilities include conducting in-service training for extension agents, as well as developing written, web-based, and social media materials for producers and other key stakeholders. They will be expected to conduct applied research related to cotton production in Alabama. Additionally, the person in this role can advise and mentor graduate students.

     


    Minimum Qualifications


    Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in agronomy or a similarly related field at the time employment begins. Documented evidence of individual and/or collaborative research in an agronomically related discipline resulting in peer-reviewed publications is required. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse audiences. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and to continue working legally for the term of employment.
