    POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT















    Work Location: This position will be domiciled in one of five regions of the LSU AgCenter.  Exact domicile to be determined upon hire. This position will serve as the statewide extension specialist -wildlife. Total value of all wildlife and fisheries enterprises on-farm in Louisiana, exceeds $800 million annually.   


     


    Position Description:  This position is 100% extension (non-tenure track). This position will serve as the state specialist (wildlife) and is expected to develop a nationally recognized, state-wide extension education program focused on the wildlife and forestry sector in Louisiana. Collaborations with AgCenter researchers and extension personnel; and with natural resource managers from state and federal agencies and non-governmental conservation groups are expected. The successful candidate will be expected to use a variety of delivery methods to engage and educate clientele including workshops, field days, webinars, social media and other electronic media.   The successful candidate will be expected to address issues in wildlife biology with expertise in wildlife habitat management, restoration ecology, and/or wildlife/game species management, population ecology or a related discipline.


     


    Qualification Requirements: A Ph.D. in a forestry, wildlife, or natural resources field (biology, zoology), or other related agricultural field is required. The applicant must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of public relations and the ability to cope with change are highly desirable characteristics. Preference will be given to applicants with extension experience.  The ability to work with and through others is essential, as is the ability to function with minimum supervision.


     


    Salary and Benefits:  Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
