  • Assistant/Associate Professor and Extension Beef Systems Specialist

    The Department of Animal Sciences in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University seeks dynamic and innovative applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor and Extension Beef Systems Specialist. This position will be a twelve-month, tenure-track position with 50% extension and 50% research appointment. The projected start date is August 1, 2025.

     

    Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and maintain a vibrant research and Extension program focused on improving the efficiency and sustainability of forage-based beef cattle production systems in the Southeast U.S. This research and Extension program has a long history of providing solutions for Alabama farmers through applied research, a robust commitment to supporting Extension agents through program development and delivery and connecting the Department of Animal Sciences to our stakeholders. 

     

    The person in this position will provide leadership in beef-forage Extension and research programming, supported by faculty and Extension agents from Auburn University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The candidate will serve as a member of the Alabama Extension Animal Science and Forages Program Priority Team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing subject-matter expertise in forage-based nutritional management systems for Extension agents and farmers, developing educational curriculum and delivering educational programs to end users, conducting in-service training for Extension agents, as well as developing written, web-based, and social media materials for producers and other key stakeholders. They will be expected to conduct applied research related to forage-based beef cattle nutrition systems in Alabama, which includes the use of AAES outlying research center farms, seeking and managing collaborative, extramurally funded research grant opportunities. The candidate will advise and mentor graduate students in alignment with and to support their research and Extension missions.
