    Position Summary:


    The UI Extension 4-H Youth Development unit is seeking applications for a 12-month, tenure track position as an Assistant or Associate professor, Area Extension Educator. The Educator will provide program leadership, district-wide technical support, and state-wide leadership in 4-H Science, Healthy Living or Citizenship. They will facilitate training for 4-H volunteers and staff based in Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles that will promote youth Thriving indicators leading to becoming actively engaged citizens. In addition, the educator will focus on expanding partnerships and bringing ancillary external resources to support the 4-H youth development program (80%). In addition, the educator will produce or conduct scholarly or creative products or activities (15%), and will participate in applicable university, college, Extension, district and community committees and perform other service assignments (5%). Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria based on the unit and college bylaws.

    Minimum Education/Degree Required:

    Required Qualifications:



    • Masters degree in child development, adult development, education, or area closely related to the position.

    • Four or more years working with 4-H, conducting 4-H programs, training 4-H volunteers, and providing leadership in 4-H.

    • Experience in subject matter fields of 4-H science, healthy living, or citizenship.

    • Experience with presenting to a variety of audiences.

    • Experience with organization and problem solving skills at work.

    • Experience with team communication (in-person, via technologies, and in groups), and communicating with the public orally, in writing and by phone.

    • Experience coordinating, planning and implementing events, workshops, trainings, and programs; organizing and preparing information and materials, working with and around school age children; using good judgment and working independently.



    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Experience in grant and budget management.

    • Experience using conflict management skills.

    • Experience networking with volunteer organizations and industry stakeholders.

    • Experience developing, recommending, and evaluating program procedures/policies and recommending changes; developing technical written materials and concise reports such as policies, technical manuals or rules/regulations.

    • Experience providing technical program assistance to staff and volunteers: gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts and devising solutions to problems.



    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:



    • Flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends and willingness to travel statewide as needed. Must possess valid drivers license.

    • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move 35 Ibs.
