The emphasis area for this position is agronomy, which includes the science of crops, forages, soils, weeds, insects, and pathogens. The position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs. The position also involves interacting with the farming community, including agronomic commodity groups, industry representatives, farm families, other university colleagues, and local and statewide elected officials.

The Agronomy Specialist will provide leadership for the area of agronomy; develop, implement, and evaluate educational projects and programs in the area of agronomy; prepare agronomy educational materials including curriculums, training packages, presentations, visual aids, media releases, and magazine articles; and establish relationship with community leaders, industries, organizations and cooperatives. The position also provides faculty-level leadership to the various Small Farms Programs in the south and northwest region of the state.
