    Job Description

    The UAE University's College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor in Irrigation for the Department of Integrative Agriculture. The role involves teaching, research, and community service in irrigation engineering, water management, soil–water–plant relations, and sustainable water use in arid environments. The candidate will teach courses in irrigation systems, design, and water resources management, supervise student projects, and conduct research on irrigation technologies, precision irrigation, water-use efficiency, climate change adaptation, and sustainable water use. The candidate should demonstrate a strong foundation in irrigation science and engineering, including field and laboratory methods, design, scheduling, and modern technologies such as sensors and automation. Preference goes to candidates with research in water conservation, desert agriculture, irrigation, and sustainable crop production. Candidate will have a permanent faculty role involving teaching, research, and community service, including teaching courses, advising undergraduates, supervising graduate research, and engaging in departmental, college, and university activities.


    Minimum Qualification

    The applicant should have


    • Ph.D. in irrigation, agricultural engineering, hydrology, or hydrogeology, or a closely related discipline from a recognized international university.


    • Post-doctoral or equivalent academic/research experience.


    • Demonstrated record of high-quality publications in irrigation.


    • Good h-index according to Scopus or comparable metrics. • Proven teaching experience in irrigation engineering. • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.


    • Ability to attract internal and external funding to support research programs.


    • Commitment to excellence in teaching and dedication to advancing interdisciplinary collaborations and contributing to sustainable agriculture.


    Preferred Qualification

    Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research in water conservation, irrigation for desert agriculture and sustainable crop production under water scarcity.


    Expected Skills

    The selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in irrigation science and water management, supervise student projects and internships, and lead a research program focused on sustainable water use in arid environments. They will pursue research grants, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to departmental and university service, including outreach activities related to irrigation and water resources.
