    Position Summary:
    This tenure track assistant professor position will have a 15% teaching, 35% extension and 50% research program. The successful candidate will teach a senior/graduate level course in agricultural air quality that covers topics such as chemical processes governing gaseous losses to the atmosphere, impacts of soil/agricultural management on gas fluxes, downwind impacts of agricultural emissions, and monitoring and measurement of agricultural emissions (gas and particulate matter). Candidates should have demonstrated teaching experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a nationally recognized research and extension program in agricultural air quality focused on issues facing Idaho animal agriculture and communities.

    Minimum Qualifications:



    • PhD in Animal Science, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field at the time of hire.

    • Experience with emission measurement equipment such as FTIR, Li-CORE, Eddy Covariance and other similar equipment.

    • Experience with researching topics such as agricultural management practices and greenhouse gas emissions; reduction of emissions related to odor in confinement animal agriculture systems; airborne transport of sediment and particulate matter and associated bacteria and contaminants in relation to human health, and impacts of prescribed and wildfire on air quality.



    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Experience teaching in a higher education setting.

    • Experience with teaching senior/graduate level courses in agricultural air quality covering topics such as chemical processes governing gaseous losses to the atmosphere, impacts of soil/agricultural management on gas fluxes, downwind impacts of agricultural emissions, and monitoring and measurement of agricultural emissions (gas and particulate matter).

    • Experience securing outside funding to support their program.

    • Experience recruiting and advising graduate MS and PhD students.

    • Ability to build a nationally recognized research and extension program in agricultural air quality focused on issues facing Idaho animal agriculture and communities.
