Assistant or Associate Professor – Turfgrass and Forage Pathology. This is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment (90% research, 10% teaching) in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, University of Georgia (UGA). The position will be located at the UGA Griffin Campus in Griffin, GA (http://caes2.caes.uga.edu/campus/griffin/).

The successful candidate will develop a vigorous, innovative, internationally recognized, and extramurally funded research program in the area of turfgrass and forage pathology. Candidates with the ability to synergize with the world-class turfgrass and forage genetics, genomics, and breeding programs at UGA to understand and harness disease resistance are especially encouraged to apply. Opportunities exist for disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations within the UGA Turf Team and with strong programs in etiology, pathogen biology, disease management, disease ecology and epidemiology, fungicide resistance, and pathogen and population genetics in the Department of Plant Pathology. There is an expectation of excellence in grantsmanship, timely communication of research findings via peer-reviewed journal articles, and active participation in the mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral scientists. Teaching responsibilities include team-teaching an undergraduate course in turfgrass pest management and a graduate-level course commensurate with the department’s needs and the incumbent’s area of specialty.
