The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, KY Tobacco Research & Development Center seeks an experienced team leader and quality assurance scientist to join our tobacco research program. The scientist will provide leadership for an international tobacco reference program and proficiency testing program. The successful candidate will also be responsible for QA/QC processes for the on-going characterization of reference tobacco products that are used for international research and regulation. Research includes the assurance of consistent quality of results by developing and validating good automated analytical practices systems, validating processes, improving protocols and maintaining documentation. The position will also coordinate and administer inter-laboratory studies on tobacco reference products on an international basis. The position will write reports to sponsor(s) and additional funding applications. In addition, this position will provide leadership to an international laboratory proficiency program for tobacco product testing labs.
Minimum qualifications are M.S. plus 2-3 years of related job experience, although a Ph.D. is desirable. Comprehensive knowledge of chemistry and statistics; and previous grant writing experience is preferred.
