Develop and deliver a nationally recognized statewide integrated Extension and research program focused on nursery, greenhouse, and specialty crops. Research/Extension topics could also include commercial horticulture, ornamentals, fruits, vegetables, commercial urban agriculture, and turfgrass
Acquire extramural funding to support, develop, and deliver research and Extension programs
Publish in high quality disciplinary and multi-disciplinary journals and other appropriate outlets including peer reviewed Extension publications
Work with UTIA faculty, including multi-disciplinary teams, county Extension agents, area Extension specialists and other UT personnel
Use traditional and innovative tools to educate a diverse audience including county Extension agents, area Extension specialists, state and federal agencies, state industry and producer groups
Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate students
Provide leadership to state level 4-H programs as appropriate
Participate in the service activities of the Department, Institute, University, and profession
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field. The successful candidate will have excellent research, teaching, communication and quantitative skills and a willingness to work in multi-disciplinary teams. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the nursery and greenhouse industry are desired.
