Post-doctoral scholarship in greenhouse gas determination across integrated systems through in vitro and in vivo approaches and advancing stable isotope applications.
The Center for Carbon Studies in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON) is a worldclass center located at the ESALQ/USP and was recently approved in the Research, Diffusion, and Innovation Centers Program (CEPID) from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
CCARBON endeavors to pioneer innovative solutions and strategies for enhancing low-carbon tropical agriculture. The CCARBON - ANIMAL RESEARCH PROJECT is dedicated to investigating the impact of manipulating the rumen microbiome profile through feed biomass on mitigating enteric methane emissions in grazing ruminants within tropical environments.
CCARBON-Animal invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship aimed at assessing the effectiveness of integrating forage-based systems, silvopastoral systems, legume introduction, and marine algae supplementation in mitigating enteric methane emissions within ruminant production. This research utilizes stable isotope analysis to identify and quantify methane sources, enhancing our comprehension of the impact these alternative approaches have on reducing greenhouse gas emissions overall.
The successful candidate will be appointed to a 24-month postdoctoral fellowship as a researcher. We seek a highly motivated and scientifically productive individual with expertise in areas encompassing animal science, rumen fermentation studies, isotopic composition analysis, data analysis and statistics, environmental science.
This opportunity is open to both Brazilian and international applicants. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral Fellowship totaling BRL 9,047.40 monthly (approximately USD 1,900), along with a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual scholarship value. The Technical Reserve is designated for expenses directly associated with research activities.
