The university houses several internationally-recognized and long-established water research programs and organizations. Some include the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute described at https://nmwrri.nmsu.edu/ which supports water research for science informed water management. NMSU is also home to the NSF funded long-term ecological research program described at https://jornada.nmsu.edu/lter , as well as two NSF funded Engineering Research Centers. These are Reinventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure described at https://renuwit.org/ and the Center for Bio-Mediated and Bio-Inspired Geotechnics described at https://cbbg.engineering.asu.edu/.
