Looking to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher to be based at the University of Edinburgh, though open to remote work as well. The Postdoc will work closely with Dr. Lindsay Jaacks and Dr. Peter Alexander at the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Security, and Dr. Lindsey Taillie at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (USA). The primary task of the Postdoc will be to develop a microsimulation model to estimate the number of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and colorectal cancer cases prevented in the United States over 10 years as a result of changes in the consumption of red meat under the hypothetical scenarios of a warning label or 30% tax. Effect sizes will come from an online grocery store experiment we are currently conducting as part of the larger project.
The Postdoc will be part of the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Security (GAAFS) at the University of Edinburgh. GAAFS is an interdisciplinary hub of expertise to support the transformation of agri-food systems though agenda-setting, research, teaching and translation to policy and practice. The Postdoc will work with Dr Lindsay Jaacks and Dr Peter Alexander in GAAFS, and the Co-PI of the project at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill – Dr Lindsey Smith Taillie.
