Abdoul Sam’s scholarly interests range widely from nonparametric econometrics, financial economics, to environmental self-regulation. His research in nonparametric econometrics focuses on regression function estimation and hypothesis testing in data-rich environments with applications to continuous-time finance. Research in environmental self-regulation investigates empirically the nature of the relationship between Government-sponsored Voluntary Pollution Reduction programs (VPRs) and innovation in the environmental technology of participant firms, and the mechanism by which a VPR achieves pollution abatement. He joined the department in fall 2005.
