My research is devoted to discover molecular development of tropical orchid colour. Flower colour alteration can be achieved by modifying an anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway either by adding or suppressing genes involved in this pathway. I am interested in metabolic engineering of Dendrobium flower colour. Our current work focuses on developement of transient RNAi and overexpression systems for determining effects of modification of anthocyanin-related genes on flower colour of Dendrobium hybrid.
I also interest in identification and characterisation of brown-plant hopper resistance genes in Thai wild and native rice. Recently, we launch a new project on improvement of resistance to bacterial leaf blight by marker-assisted selection in cultivated Thai rice
