My research focuses on the prevention and treatment of obesity and obesity-related chronic disease. More specifically, my research examines how diet and weight gain affect lipid and lipoprotein metabolism - using both basic science and clinical approaches. Through my research experience, I've contributed to clinical trials investigating how dietary modifications affect cardiovascular disease and diabetes risk in humans. Currently, we use molecular biology techniques, tissue culture and rodent models to study the pathologies of diabetes and atherosclerosis, with specific interests in adipocyte biology and high density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism. We plan on using findings from our animal studies to support further research in humans.
