  • Elizabeth Hobbs has been teaching in the Landscape Design and Contracting Program since 1987. She has seen the program grow into a nationally respected, award winning, accredited program that consistently ranks in the top ten in the Industry sponsored PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) competition. Teaching, or helping students see the landscape through the very practical/functional and aesthetically balanced eye of a well-trained designer is the ultimate goal of every class she teaches whether it be Grading and Drainage or Graphics. She received the Shepardson Teaching Award and the Cermak Advising Award from the College of Agricultural Sciences which reflects her focus on teaching. Before coming to CSU, Liz worked at all size offices as a Landscape Architect from a family business to an interdisciplinary firm, all in Colorado. She also started her own business, Design Consultant which is still active today. She has a bachelor’s in Economics from American University, Washington D.C., a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois, Champaign – Urbana and is a licensed landscape architect in the state of Colorado. Currently her research interests focus on Wind Farm Development and visual impact.
